Welcome to my workshop.
After graduating the Bachelor in Musical instrument building at The Royal Conservatory of Ghent (BE), I have set up a modest workshop in Groningen (NL), where I perform repairs and maintenance work on hurdy-gurdies, as well as other musical instrument building related commissions.

Repairs and maintenance
Any hurdy-gurdist is more than familiar with the maintenance of and tinkering with their instrument. Yet, there may be times when you'll encounter hurdles that even the most experienced players would find daunting. That is where I'll be happy to help you out.
Repairing cracks, investigating mysterious noises, or fitting new chiens are a just few examples of cases that a hurdy-gurdy may have to encounter at some point in its lifespan.
Is your instrument in need of some intensive care, or is there something that needs repairing? Feel free to contact me, then we can see how I may be able to help you.

Personal adjustments
One's own instrument is something very personal, and the right match can elevate both your enjoyment in playing, as well as the advancement in your musicianship.
Even when your hurdy-gurdy has been custom-made for you, your needs can evolve over time. Adding capos, revisioning string configurations, or altering some settings can help to bring your instrument closer to your shifted preferences.
If you're feeling like your instrument is restricting you, or you'd simply like to have some more or different options, I would be more than willing to think along and see what I can do for you.

Reconstruction
As my graduation piece, I reconstructed a baroque hurdy-gurdy by 'Salomon' from 1734 using historically informed building techniques.

Commission
I gladly accept artisanal, musical instrument related woodworking commissions - for instance, making salterio hammers.

Assembly
Nerdy Gurdy provides the world with more and accessible hurdy-gurdies, to which I contribute by professionally building and finishing their models.

What can I do for you?
